Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. You may think it’s all about helping others, but you’d be surprised at how much you’ll gain from the experience. Volunteering promotes mental wellbeing, teaches you new skills, expands your outlook and helps you make new friends. A study by Dr Rachel Cassidy of the University of Wales, in association with Volunteering England, found a number of health benefits from volunteering, including:

  • Ability to cope with ill health
  • A healthier lifestyle
  • Improved family relationships
  • Fewer feelings of isolation
  • Improved self-esteem and sense of purpose
Here at Wealden Volunteering, we’ll help you find the perfect volunteering opportunity. We take into account:
  • Your availability (how much time you can spare and how often)
  • Your skills and experience
  • Your age and abilities
  • Your personal preferences
  • Your location and access to transport
Where necessary we can also help you to obtain a DBS check (which checks for criminal convictions) and we have specific safeguarding policies for youth volunteers.
  • Find out about our current volunteering opportunities.
  • Youth volunteering – for children and young people.
  • Apply to be a volunteer.
