Our club provides a friendly, fun and safe, yet challenging environment for children and young people in  a unique location. At NIPPERS we understand  play is a vital part of growing up and we enable children to do so safely under the watchful eye  of playworkers Children  and young people have the opportunity to take part in  various activities Art Crafts Sports Cooking Socialise with their friends Play outside on the beach and  in the woods Play in the  local park Forest School N.I.P.P.E.R.S. was established in 1996 by the Sussex Enterprise OSCI (Out of School Initiative), when the management committee extended the Newhaven Summer Playscheme, which had existed since 1973 as a 2 week holiday playscheme, to providing an After School Club for 16 children and young people every afternoon. 19 years later, we are still here, with an After School Club based at Shakespeare Hall in Fort Road Newhaven. Our club was the first setting in Lewes District area to have been accredited with level 2, Aiming High accreditation for Quality Assurance. Our clubs provide a friendly, fun and safe, yet challenging environment, which are child led and responsive to children’s play needs. Many clubs prefer a more structured environment but N.I.P.P.E.R.S. feels that after a long school day, children need to be able to relax and play and to develop their social skills. Our staff are committed to looking after children and providing the best quality care for parents/carers’ peace of mind. Our staff are either qualified in, or in training for, Playwork NVQ, the recognised qualification for those working in the Play sector. Also staff are trained in First Aid, Child Protection and Special Educational Needs as well as Forest School. All have undergone suitable person and DBS checks. More recently N.I.P.P.E.R.S has moved to East Side Social Centre where we have a dedicated play space for children to have fun, play games and make mess!
