Skills Bursaries for Professional Development in the Archives Sector
National Archives is offering bursaries to archivists and heritage professionals as part of its 2023/24 grants programme.
Funding is intended to provide archivists with training, career professional development or mentoring that would not usually be available in their own organisational development programmes, including in areas such as:
- Preserving and sharing the digital record
- Environmental sustainability
- Diversity, equity and inclusion
The programme is open to any individual working with a recognised archive collection in England or Wales. This principally includes employees, but may also include trustees or volunteers.
Eligible archive and heritage organisations include those from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
The maximum grant per individual is £500, though group and network applications are also accepted. For example, a group of five archivists could apply for £2,500 to organise a shared training session.
Bursaries will be paid to the employer, rather than the individuals themselves.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
