Celebrating autism awareness

Held annually, to coincide with World Autism Acceptance Day on 2 April, Autism Awareness Week is dedicated to raising understanding and acceptance of autism. It can also help educate others about the challenges and strengths of autistic people and provide an opportunity to encourage further conversation around neurodiversity.

Author Maria Motúnráyọ̀ Adébísí picks your next book

This month’s book recommendations have been selected by children’s fantasy author Maria Motúnráyọ̀ Adébísí, who has also been shortlisted for the East Sussex Children’s Book Award 2025. Maria has chosen a range of fantasy novels rooted in Nigerian mythology, as well as a few others that have inspired her own writing.

The shift from winter to spring can be subtle, especially in this country where the weather doesn’t always play ball. But even if the sunny days and warmer temperatures are slower to arrive, there are lots of gardening jobs you can tackle ahead of summer from weeding, pruning and seed sowing.

How did you celebrate World Oral Health Day on Thursday 20 March? Hopefully by cleaning your teeth! And while yes, its not the most exciting day of the year, good oral health is important, so it’s a good reminder to make sure you are getting it right.
So, what are the main things we should be doing to maintain our teeth? We asked Celine Woodthorpe, oral health trainer for East Sussex County Council, to share her top tips to help you look after your children’s teeth and dispel some common myths like rinsing after you brush (spoiler: don’t)!

Fine for trader selling fake designer goods
