Support the Summer Reading Challenge
We are looking for volunteers to help support this year’s Summer Reading Challenge which encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during the summer holiday.
Working in the library, you will encourage children to enrol in the challenge and motivate them to continue; chatting to them about their books and giving out rewards for each book read.
Volunteers must be 13 and over, it could be a great opportunity to help out over the summer or for a young person to gain useful work experience.

Medieval Wadhurst and the Bivelham Estate
Come join local author Tim Cornish for a captivating look at life during medieval times in Wadhurst.
Using detailed records from Lambeth Palace, Tim will share what life was really like for the people who depended on farming and the local forests to make a living, while also having to win the favour of their Lords.
We’ll learn about the roles of Wadhurst’s medieval parish owners—the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Crown—and what it meant when traveling landlords visited, bringing both news and demands for rent.
