Consultation on new charges for arranging social care support for adults who pay the full cost of their care

East Sussex County Council are running a consultation to find out what people think about them charging an admin fee when we set up non-residential care and issue invoices for adults who fully fund their care.

The payments would not generate profit for the council but would enable us to recover an extra £200,000 per year to reinvest into vital adult social care services.

It would be a non-profit making payment, that covers the costs of the admin time spent setting up non-residential care and related invoices. The proposal is that only people who are financially able to pay it do, those who have been eligible to pay the full cost of their care and support based on their financial assessment. Anybody worrying about being able to afford it could request another financial assessment.

Lots of other local authorities have been charging these fees for some time, and ESCC has held off as long as possible. But due to reducing public sector funding, it is now being considered.
