Calling for Expressions of Interest in FREE TRAINING on Understanding Gambling Related Harm – deadline Friday 13th June 2025
What is on offer?
East Sussex Public Health are offering the opportunity for staff who may encounter adults at risk of/experiencing gambling harm through their work to undertake free training provided by Chapter One, who are part of the charity Gambling with Lives (GwL).
Gambling related harm impacts many families and communities. Often harms are identified too late or not at all, and people affected are left feeling alone and that they are to blame. Sadly, hundreds of people take their lives every year because of gambling. Chapter One prevention programmes provide information, training and support, formed and informed by people with lived experience.
The training programme on offer will help staff understand gambling-related harms and provide participants with the skills, confidence and tools to help those affected. The course covers modern-day gambling, the causes and effects of gambling harms, how to perform a brief intervention and support & treatment options
The intention is to commission 2-3 of these courses between September to December 2025. There will be approximately 35 places for each training date and those who attend will be expected to share their learning and cascade key information from the training with their colleagues.
What do I need to do?
