Royal Hippodrome Friends

To ensure the continued use of the Royal Hippodrome for the benefit of the community and surrounding area. To offer voluntary support which helps to ensure the theatre's continued use.

The ‘Friends’ were formed in 1992 with the intention of ensuring the continued use of the Royal Hippodrome Theatre. At this point the building successfully obtained Grade II Listed Status. We promote a cultural community initiative, which is enabling the theatre to become the hub of the regeneration of the Devonshire Ward area of Eastbourne. By our fundraising efforts we have been able to contribute extensively to the theatre. Our most recent gift, for example, is the luxurious carpeting in the new and extended foyer, along with numerous other essential items. We also give our support by working as volunteers front of house and run Tours of the theatre and also fundraising social events for members to enjoy.
