Lewes District Food Partnership (LDFP) Project Officer for Dignity & Participation
Part Time, 22.5 hours per week, (working pattern to be agreed)
Salary range £25,213 - £26,756 per annum pro rata dependent on skill & experience - upper levels awarded for exceptional/highly experienced candidates
Currently funded until 30th April 2026
Based in Newhaven with some local travel.

We are looking for an exceptional individual with a passion for food security and equity to support the work of Lewes District Food Partnership relating to dignity and participation. Lewes District Food Partnership brings together local residents and organisations to build food systems that work better for everyone. Participation and dignity are key principles across LDFP work, with particular relevance for community food services.

Working alongside the LDFP Coordinator, you will provide high level administrative support and assistance to ensure the effective delivery of projects relating to dignity and participation. This will include ‘Pinch Points: Local insights regarding improving support for those facing financial crisis’, a project funded by Lloyds Bank Foundation. Pinch Points centres the voices of people with lived experience of financial hardship, to influence local policy and provision through a series of workshops and participant-led forums.

Additionally, the role provides support for the development of the Alliance for Dignified Food Support. This is a national project bringing together different organisations with the aim of promoting dignity in the provision of community food services.

We are looking for people to join our team who have the qualities and skills we feel would most benefit our clients; professionalism, empathy, kindness and understanding. In return, we understand people want to work in a supportive environment with friendly colleagues. We offer a flexible, hybrid approach to delivery wherever possible, annual leave of 23 days per year pro rata plus bank holidays and sick pay from the start (increasing with service), additional sick pay per year for planned operations and recovery, a pension scheme, bereavement leave, and managers who are available to you… plus a day off for your birthday!

The vacancy closes at 5pm on 9th May 2024, with interviews conducted 16th May 2024 in Newhaven.

For the job description and to apply, please go to www.sussexcommunity.org.uk/work-with-us Completed application forms can be sent to HR via email to hr@sussexcommunity.org.uk.
You may think that you’re not a 100% match to what we’re looking for, but we recognise that some skills and experience may be transferable rather than an exact match. If you’re unsure about whether to apply, please do contact the HR team on hr@sussexcommunity.org.uk and we would be happy to arrange an informal discussion with the recruiting manager.
