What did your volunteer(s) do?
Wealden MP, Nus Ghani, recognised the Crowborough Foodbank leaders as “heroes” for the way they responded during the pandemic. Lockdown and social distancing meant they had to completely change their processes overnight and introduce new ways of working – including doing deliveries. This happened without any disruption to the support they provide for local families.
How did your volunteer(s) make a difference?
Crowborough Foodbank is a small food bank, but 2020 was their busiest year by far, supporting 2,519 people and providing 22,671 meals. They have more than 40 volunteers involved in collecting food, weighing, sorting and boxing it, managing referral vouchers, contacting clients, allocating boxes and then delivering. Crowborough Foodbank has no paid employees.
