3VA - Voluntary Action in Eastbourne, Lewes District and Wealden - and Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC) will jointly host two one-off free information and support sessions to help groups develop their expression of interest proposal and subsequently write a funding bid for EBC's Major & Housing and Small grants schemes that has a greater likelihood of success.
Major & Housing Grants
EBC recognises the immense value of voluntary and community activity and its contribution to residents’ well-being, the local economy and the sustainability of a wide range of services which benefit people living and working in the town and visitors. To support this activity, EBC distributes funding as Major Grants of £10,000 or more and Housing Grants to deliver a number of priorities. There is a two stage process. In the first stage organisations are invited to submit an initial Expression of Interest. If organisation meets eligibility criteria and the application addresses the priorities set out by EBC, they will be invited to complete and submit a full application form.
Those looking to attend the support session will be required to read funding guidance in advance and be familiar with the Expression of Interest (EOI) and full application form. Ideally, participants would also have discussed their EOI within their organisation. Then at the session from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Wednesday 15 August 2018 at Eastbourne Town Hall, participants will have an opportunity to discuss their EOI or project ideas and 3VA and EBC staff will share tips and feedback on what they look for in a grant application.
This course is for trustees, managers, fundraisers and other individuals who are responsible for or involved in writing funding bids for their voluntary and community organisations. The session will be particularly useful for beginners or those with limited experience of fundraising who wish to apply to EBC. By the end of the session, participants will have gained an understanding of what EBC is looking for in an EOI and a full funding application, how to provide evidence of the need for a project and how to present the project with a focus on the EOI.
Every year Eastbourne Borough Council awards grants to voluntary and community organisations for services and activities which benefit Eastbourne and its residents. This is a one stage application process. You are invited to submit a detailed application. Please note that the deadline for expressions of interest is 5pm on Friday 19th October 2018. For further information and to download and application, please visit Eastbourne Borough Council’s website.
This one-off, free information and support session will help groups to develop the skills to write a funding bid that is more likely to be successful, focusing specifically on Eastbourne Borough Council’s Small Grants scheme, with tips and feedback on what they look for in a grant application. The session will explore why funding applications are unsuccessful, what information EBC is looking for and how to provide that information in a clear and understandable way. This is a one-and-a-half-hour session plus an opportunity to discuss your application with 3VA's funding advisor and/or make an appointment to discuss it confidentially in more detail.
What will be covered:
- why funding bids are unsuccessful
- what EBC is looking for in a funding application
- how to provide evidence of the need for your project
- how to demonstrate your project outcomes
- how to present your project
Trustees, managers, fundraisers and other individuals who are responsible for or involved in writing funding bids for their voluntary and community organisations are welcome to attend. The session will be particularly useful for those with limited experience of fundraising.
