We are looking for a friendly and approachable Reception volunteer to welcome all clients and other visitors to the local Citizens Advice and assist them with taking the next steps to deal with their queries.

Role to include:-
-explaining to the client the procedure(s); give information about the service and give out a form for clients to fill in when
appropriate
-assist clients by giving information and/or signposting to help with their enquiry
-identify clients that need a face to face assessment, due to emergency, communication difficulties etc
-record information given to client for statistical purposes
-help with the day to day running of the Citizens Advice service
-complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

What do you need to have?

You don’t need specific qualifications or skills but you’ll need to:

-be friendly and approachable
-be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
-have good IT skills
-be calm under pressure
-be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data
protection
-be willing to undertake training in your role

How much time do you need to give?

To enable a regular service to our clients, we ask our Reception/Customer Service volunteers to commit to a minimum of 3 hours a week, covering either a morning or afternoon session.
