Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) runs a range of projects, services and activities aimed at supporting the involvement of the whole of the community. One of these is Youth Community Development, which provides a wide range of opportunities for young people through drop in sessions, youth & wellbeing clubs. Either as a Qualified or Trainee Youth Worker you will be an integral part of the Youth team delivering of a range of generic activities and targeted services for young people. This entails working alongside other members of the youth team in the delivery of two weekly wellbeing groups in local schools, three youth clubs and a drop-in advice and guidance service. Hours of work are Mondays 10:00am - 12:30pm and 4:45pm - 7:15pm, Tuesdays 9:00am - 11:30am, Wednesdays 3:45pm - 8:45pm and Fridays 6:45pm – 9:15pm. Some of these hours may be subject to change in line with project delivery (excluding youth clubs). The role is varied and involves a practical, hands-on yet boundaried approach. If qualified and experienced, strong knowledge of providing person-centred information, advice and guidance to young people aged 8-18 is required as well as a good understanding of youth mental health and wellbeing. If you’re interested in Youth work as a career and want to become a Trainee with us, then please come along to a taster session and see what the role would entail. Contact Shannon to book a taster session time on 01273 517250. Based in Newhaven and delivering in multiple venues in the Havens area, posts are subject to a DBS check at an enhanced level.
