Counselling Coordinator

Brief description: 
SCDA’s Affordable Counselling is a BACP accredited counselling service which aims to provide 1-1 counselling on an ‘Affordable basis’ to clients across the East Sussex area. The Youth Counselling Service offers 1:1 counselling to individuals aged 11 to 18. The Counsellors are volunteers who are either undertaking their counsellor qualification, or have recently completed training and are continuing to develop their practice. The counselling coordinator will ensure services are delivered in accordance with appropriate clinical standards and protocols. With at least two years post qualifying experience in assessing needs, and holding appropriate professional qualification; as well as previous supervisory experience; you will be responsible for the coordination of the volunteer counsellors who deliver the services, and supervise the SCDA employee who supports the administration of counselling provision. Holding responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of Affordable Counselling across delivery venues in Hailsham, Eastbourne, Lewes & Newhaven, and the Youth Service across Newhaven and Lewes, you will encourage the development, co-ordination and delivery of high quality, affordable counselling offering appropriate progression opportunities for volunteer counsellors to further develop their expertise and practice. Appropriately qualified, BACP accredited or willing to work towards, and with a sound understanding and experience of counselling/psychotherapy and the issues that may arise within an organisational setting, you will have clinical responsibility for SCDA’s Counselling Services, and be accountable for the practice of counsellors and volunteer
