As part of our Bereavement Support Service we are looking for Bereavement Support Volunteers for our adult service.
Where: Face to face, via secure online platform (TEAMS) or telephone contact
When: 2-4 clients per week minimum. Early evening and weekends with opportunities to work across sites (hospice/ Langney Road).
DBS: Enhanced with adult and child barring check required
Qualifications: An accredited counselling qualification, to be in the 2nd year of a diploma or degree in counselling (end of first year students will be considered).
Closing date: 30th November
Interviews: 16th and 17th December
About the role:
As part of our bereavement service we are looking for bereavement support volunteers for our adult bereavement service. The bereavement service offers 1:1 brief intervention support (typically a 6 session model) to recently bereaved.
Your skills, abilities and qualifications:
An accredited counselling qualification or to be in the 2nd year of a diploma or degree in counselling (first year students will be considered).
Completed some working online counselling training
Strong interpersonal skills, especially empathy & sensitivity
Flexibility to respond to the needs of the service (including IT updates)
An awareness of the importance of client confidentiality
Key responsibilities:
Meet with allocated clients on a one-to-one basis.
Follow-up administration which includes uploading electronic notes onto a client record
Participate in regular monthly supervision group meetings, in accordance with best practice
Attend the hospice organisational induction, and relevant initial training for the role, as organised by ABV and CSL

Please be aware successful applicants are required to attend introductory training on Saturday 1st February 2025 between 9-4.30pm
