The Sure Start Maternity Grant of £500 is a UK state benefit to help families towards the costs of having a child. There are set deadlines and other regulations for claiming the grant:

• You must claim the grant within 11 weeks of the baby’s due date during your pregnancy, or within 6 months after the baby’s birth
• Eligibility to receiving this grant will depend on the benefits that you are receiving already
• Your existing benefits will not be affected by receiving this grant, and you do not have to pay it back

If, you have missed the deadline term in the past, you still may apply for it by completing your application before the 8th December 2023 if you are expecting a child, or have had a baby.
