Ockenden International Prize 2024 – Open for Entries

Ockenden International is a charity that has been helping refugees and displaced people across the globe for more than 70 years. It launched its International Prize in 2012.

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2024 Ockenden International Prizes for projects proven to advance refugee self-reliance, and which reward and recognise the agency, dignity and autonomy of refugees and forced migrants anywhere in the world.

Ockenden seeks to support locally-based and/or refugee-led organisations that work directly with refugees and displaced people to advance self-reliance.

The £100,000 prize will be shared equally by four winners who will each receive a grant of £25,000.

The prizes are unrestricted grants and will be awarded on the basis of initiatives that promote self-reliance among refugees and/or displaced people, with measurable evidence of outcomes that have led to real improvement in the lives of refugees or displaced people. Sound financial governance will also be a factor.

Registered charities in the UK can apply either on their own organisation’s behalf or nominate a non-profit partner or affiliated organisation legally registered in their home country.

The project or programme entered must have been started before 1 March 2023 to be eligible for the 2024 Prizes.

One of the nine finalists in 2022 was Breadwinners, for its employment programmes supporting refugees and selling artisan bread in the UK.

The deadline for entries is 30 November 2023.
