The impact of NHS Talking Therapies on monthly employee pay and employment status

This release is part of a package of work exploring the impact of specific healthcare interventions and diagnoses on earnings and employment status. It uses anonymised NHS and HMRC PAYE data, linked to anonymised 2011 Census data.

The release looks at changes in monthly employee pay and employee status following the completion of NHS Talking Therapies treatment, a service providing treatment for common mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Future work will explore the link between health and work outcomes by examining the impact of endometriosis diagnosis, and health interventions for diabetes and musculoskeletal conditions.

The study analyses a decade of endometriosis diagnoses taking place in NHS hospitals, linked to anonymised Census 2011 data to quantify which groups are most likely to receive a diagnosis.

The results show the odds of receiving an endometriosis diagnosis vary significantly by sociodemographic characteristics in England.
