Have your say on on how we consider applications for Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in Eastbourne
People across Eastbourne are being asked to share their views on how we consider applications for Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in Eastbourne.
HMOs form an important part of the housing mix within the town, but in high concentration HMOs can cause issues for occupants and neighbouring residents.
We are seeking to introduce a new, detailed planning policy that will be used to help determine planning applications for new HMOs.
This policy will consider issues such as the concentration of HMOs in close proximity to the application site, the loss of family homes to HMOs, the impact on the amenity of neighbours, and the standard of accommodation for occupants.
We have arranged a number of drop-in events to provide an opportunity to find out more about the HMO DPD and Article 4 Direction and speak with officers.
Three drop-in sessions will be held at Eastbourne Town Hall:
- Wednesday 11 September 11am-2pm
- Monday 16 September 2pm-5pm
- Tuesday 24 September 5pm-8pm
There will also be a drop-in event at Leaf Hall in Seaside, held on:
- Wednesday 18 September 3pm-7pm
The consultation runs from Friday 2 August through to Friday 27 September 2024.
